Higher education is facing a crisis of access, quality, and outcomes. Across the country, universities have invested in similar initiatives to reform their models of course design, delivery, measurement, and improvement. Penn State, a Founding Investor of Unizin, has been active in exploring solutions to these issues as well. Unizin, a University-owned consortium focused on improving teaching and learning outcomes in the evolving world of digital education, seeks to generate solutions that serve all consortium members. Along with researchers and thought leaders from Unizin’s membership, a variety of next generation learning tools and systems are being constructed to create the most effective learning environment. During this COIL Fischer Speaker Series event, Amin Qazi, executive director of Unizin, provides insights into Unizin’s perspective on the future of Digital Education and how the consortium will help Universities in meeting that future.

As head of Unizin, Amin Qazi coordinates with the Unizin board and staff to ensure that the organization is collecting, developing, and connecting essential digital teaching and learning tools. Most recently, Amin and the Unizin team have facilitated a real-time data feed from the Canvas LMS to Unizin Members and acquired an eText reader software platform that will be available to Members next year. Under his guidance, Unizin has grown to include 22 institutions and more than 700,000 students. Amin is a graduate of the University of Iowa and the University of Minnesota.
